Yeah, but Womach has got so much hustle...Image

Say now... :-?

You know you've messed up when you've drafted Freel and Bill Hall as your only 2B options... :-[

But Womack isn't a good baseball player in real life either.

Tony Womack is a horrible defensive player and his OBP is AWFUL especially for a supposedly speedy, top of the lineup, "make things happen" kind of player. Simply put, one of the worst of all active major league players. Current GM Krivsky inherited Woe-mack so blame this one on O'brien, not getting rid of him is another story

Womack is an AWFUL player in real life baseball. Slap hitter with no pop, a low OBP, and an OPS UNDER 700. And he is a lousy fielder.
So unless you prescribe to the Ozzie Smith theory that any OPS above 650 is HOF worthy, I think the overall consensus is that Blowmack blows.

Now in fairness, Freel pretty much blows too. His OBP and OPS numbers are better than Blowmack's though and he is younger (thoughhardly young at age 30.

Maybe they're trying to motivate Freel? Not sure the thinking behind this decision. :-?

I've said this a few times, unfortunately I don't have the quote handy. Narron views Freel as a super-sub. Meaning that even though he is a better player with a much better OBP, Narron wants him coming off the bench because he views Freel as more valuable that way. Personally, I would want the better player in the lineup more often, getting more at bats, getting on base, scoring runs, and if a sub is needed Womack supposedly can play IF or OF.

Womack in the OF?

All you need to do is replace Reds with Yanks and put in the name Clueless Cashman for the GM.

That experiment did not last long. Blowmack is AWFUL in the OF. You know you are bad when you can't beat out Bernie Williams at this point in his career.
