Last year several of my starters had horrid outings in April. I'm wondering if the hitters are ahead of the pitchers in the first two or three weeks of the season ?

Usually they say pitchers are more ready than hitters in April. Makes sense since pitchers and catchers report to camp first.
Also, since the weather is still cold in majority of the states, hitters have a disadvantage. If you ever tried to hit a baseball in cold weather, then you know what I'm talking about.

For all its worth, I added up the runs scored in 55 games played after April 5th last year 556. And the 55 games played after June 5th last year 452. That's a large sample and there was 2 runs less scored per game in June.
