I used Trillian for a bit but I just liked the AIM look and I didn't like knowing I wasn't actually using the AOL program. It does have everything you need however and should be fine for people without the quirky things that bother me. !+)

Yeah I hate AOL as a whole too. They try and take over your computer, but AIM doesn't have any of that stuff.

I'm not a big fan of the first party clients. I prefer to stick with Gaim. I've used Trillian in the past and that one works just fine as well.

Long story short, use Trillian or Gaim so you can connect to the "big 3" protocols simultaneously wthout using seperate clients.

Whatever you do, don't use AIM Triton. It's horrendous. Use the old AIM instead if you want to use that.

I used Trillian for a while but it's almost too much; it runs a big file on the PC, it has more options than I'd ever think about using and, more than anything, the interface actually gets less intuitive as you use it.

I can easily say that GAIM is the best I've used yet; I can be logged onto AOL, Yahoo and MSN at the same time, it takes up less resources than Trillian and, most of all, it's much more intuitive.

Now, if only more people would use GoogleTalk.... :-?
