New to fantasy, need advice

Hey. I have been doing really good in free leagues the past couple years so this year I wanna try a money league... I browsed through the classified section for a league, and I just have 1 question.. How do you know if you can trust the commissioner with the money and that you will get the prize at the end of the year... Also any suggestion in a good league, that has one flat rate, a draft. between 25-100 dollars? thanks

Some money leagues can be very competitive, especially ones advertised here. Yahoo public leagues are also notoriously bad. I would suggest trying some yahoo private leagues which offer at least some more degree of difficulty.

If you are set on a money league, I would first try to just do one with a group of your friends or coworkers. Looking on the classifieds section, while this isnt a guarentee, someone with 1000+ posts is usually well-respected and known around here and probably will not scam you out of your money.

i was in a similar situation this season... so a couple of friends and i joined a CBS sportsline leage... 30 bucks and the winner gets 130... not the best pay out rate... but at least we can be confident that we'll get it... i'm not super thrilled about it being a points league... but hey, i'll try it
