I had a roommate who used to grow that stuff in a closet. He was good at it, but it made the whole house smell like a moist sticky jungle. And his pothead burnout friends were over all the time just laying around getting high, and playing 8-bit Nintendo games.

Seems like a lot of trouble for something that grows in the fields naturally here. They're out culling it all summer long.

I've heard that before, don't they call it 'Nebraska No-High' because it contains very low levels of THC?

I had to look that up - I've never heard that before. We always just called it ditch-weed.

Guys used to smoke that stuff, and while it wasn't the same as "normal" marijuana in the high that you got, it would get you floating a bit. Plus it's free, and you don't have to worry about growing it yourself since it's always just out there, so it was pretty popular in the rural area where I grew up.

Yeah, I can't imagine herb that just grows on its own would have all that much of an effect... In fact, isn't grass that grows from seeds on its own just plain old hemp? Something about hemp being male and the female kind being what is smoked to get high.

Where was your farm?

Near Springfield and we had plenty of the ditch-weed. We dry out paper bags of the stuff. You had to smoke quite a bit of it to get any kind of buzz though.
