File extension question (.zi file?)

hoping one of you computer nerds can help. a company i deal with cannot send/recieve .zip files because of security reasons and asked that we send .zi files instead.

any idea how to do this or what program to use? i dont see that option in Winzip and if i just try changing the extension of the .zip file to .zi i get a file named file.zi.zip and it's still a .zip file

any help would be appreciated

I think .zi is sometimes used to circumvent anti-virus filters as you've described. If winzip doesn't know what to do with it you need to rename it to .zip. Because that isn't working, it sounds like you need to go under Windows explorer options and deselect "hide file extensions for known file types".

With that option enabled you can't directly change a known extension type.
