10 team 5x5 with 2 Catcher Spots, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 5 OF, 2 Utility and 9 Pitchers. Only 2 Bench spots. 8th overall draft pick

C-Ramon Hernandez
C- Lo Duca
1B-Shelton (not thrilled with this but .300/25HR is a possibility)
2B-Biggio (Iguchi available on WW)
3B-Chipper
SS-Felipe Lopez
OF-Crawford
OF-Sheffield
OF-Carlos Lee
OF-Crisp
OF-Gomes
U-Big Papi Ortiz (wish i could start him at 1B)
U-Mora

P-Pedro (got him in round 5 - couldnt pass)
P-Colon
P-Prior (fell to round 11. had to gamble)
P-Lackey
P-Bedard
P-Chris Young
P-Izzy
P-Wickman
P-Jones

B-gustavo Chacin
B-Timlin

i dont think i'm dominant anywhere, but should at least be in the top half of every category which should be enough to compete IF my pitching can stay healthy

Comments on where i should look to improve and who to deal to do it?

very well rounded team...I would definately pickup iguchi from waivers, could have a solid season if biggio falters. Sheffield might be another to look at trading in light of the steroid hoopla that is going on again this season, possibly for a 1B if you're not happy with your current player. pitching looks solid if prior and martinez are healthy for the most part of the year...definately a top 3 team as is

trade Mora for a better 1b ? and yea i'd probably take Iguchi over Biggio.

looks like a a fairly decent team, your own analysis is right.

i would grab iguchi i think he should have a better year this year than last. Other than that as long as pitching is healthy you should be great.

Thanks for answering my post. Team is pretty solid, and I agree with what everyone else said. Pedro and prior have some risks (then again what pitcher doesnt), but you got them at great value. I would worry about colon, his conditioning is terrible, and his verlocity has been declining for two years now. I have a bad feeling about him this year, as his weight puts him at a higher injury risk. I would suggest trading him for a somewhat safer #2 like pettite, especially given the the riskiness of pedro and prior. Overall, nice well rounded roster

Not a bad squad, but I'd say that you could use some help in the infield. I'd try and make a trade for a 1B (maybe a L. Berkman or C. Tracy) by dangling Izzy out there. There's other relievers out there or that will be out there at some point that can give you the same amount of saves that he can. He's also a, relatively, big name and should draw some good players in return.

I'd definately take Iguchi and drop Biggio. Iguchi will be batting second, right in front of Konerko and Thome (if healthy) which is better than the Astro's lineup.

I also like the team, but Shelton would worry me. Can Ortiz gain eligibility at first if he plays there enough? I have a similar problem with Travis Hafner, but in my league if he plays 10 games or starts 5 games at first he gets the eligibility.

I'd be interested to know who is on your WW for 1st.

Please return the favor:

i would get iguchi over biggio

your team is well rounded with good mixture of power and speed

can't complain much about it

i would get a pitcher with more innings to work than timlin

otherwise...a solid team ;-D
