I need to pick up a pitcher that will get some holds

What do you think? There's a hold category in our league and nobody drafted much for it. Here is my team, followed by available candidates for holds. How do I project who will be a major "hold guy?"

Who should I pick up....and who should I realease? I really don't know who to release as I think I have drafted a semi-solid team.

Villone (21) ......I'm leaning toward the guys with the most holds from last year (32), but does that stat repeat.... or will they be in a different spot in the bullpen with last year's success?

I must add that I've never done fantasy baseball before. So I may have major flaws in my team other than holds. Feel free to point them out.

waffle iron, thanks for your input your one of the good guys, as far as holds are concerned they are a catagory in my leagues as well. I just punted them alltogether i always do. I feel that carrying middle relievers just to get a hold here or there is a waste of time, unless you can grab a scott shields or scott linebrink.

Since I didn't list my picks by round maybe I could get better help from you guys on what picks I got value at.....I think my #1 pick was a bit of a reach and maybe Weeks was too, but I also feel that those 2 positions aren't real deep and that I was able to pick up more guys at postions that had more depth later in the draft. I picked 10th in the first round of a 14 team draft.

I Really thought there were a lot of Pitchers that weren't getting picked so I left that area alone until late other than closers and I thought Colon was of good value in the round I took him. Other than that I had Eckstein and Alou as possible targets to fill final OF and Infield spots and waited as long as I could on them.

What picks do you guys think I got good value on and which ones were a reach? Remember it's a 14 team league.

i wouldn't pick miguel batista/suppan/radke
they just lack the consistency in them

try to get shields if he is still available
he is very good

otherwise your team is fine as is

you have a very solid team with a couple of guys I PERSONALLY dont care for: Taveras, Eckstein, and Alou. Most upside is Taveras, iactually had him and dropped, but i dont thnk he'll play everyday for quite some time from what ive been reading...

Very nice team. I wouldn't worry about holds unless you can get Shields (as previously suggested). You can go two weeks without getting a hold from a guy. In the leagues I've been in I tried to start an extra closer instead.

i have holds in my league too. It is a cat. that I always punt because I view middle relievers as a waste of a roster spot because they are very inconsistent. If you could get shields cheap, I wouldtry to get him.

Other guys that are solid middle relievers, not sure about holds though:

Farnsworth, Rincon, Linebrink, Shcields (as said before), Duchensher

Shields, Wheeler, Betancourt, Rincon, Linebrink, any of those guys would be good for holds.
