why would the Marlins want Jeff Conine, for young talented Lee?
With a bit of luck, his life was ruined forever. Always thinking that just behind some narrow door in all of his favorite bars, men in red woolen shirts are getting incredible kicks from things he'll never know.
I haven't heard of any latest rumour of any Marlins' movement. Thanks for the updates guys.
Not that the Fish don't like Lee, but they have been trying to dump some salary all year long (e.g. Lowell). The Fish actually had some decent 1B in their farm(stokes, adrian gon.), so it won't be surprising to see D.Lee go.
Jul 7 The Florida Sun-Sentinel's Mike Berardino reports the Florida Marlins are discussing a deal that would send Marlins 1B Derrek Lee to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for Orioles 1B Jeff Conine who won a World Championship with the Marlins in 1997. Both players are making $4.25 million this season, but Lee could jump to $6.25 million range through arbitration next season where as Conine will make $5 million.
But most importantly, how will this affect his numbers?

I'm not saying this deal is totally bogus, but if you're relying on the Sun-Sentinel for accurate information-- you're better off using a dart board.
The Marlins are trying to win back the fans, they feel that by bringing back Jeff Conine, one of the all time fan favorites from down here, they will gain their respect once again. Also, Conine may bring some consistency with him which Lee doesn't have. As far as I've hard the Marlins have 2 of the top 1B prospects in baseball, so dumping the streaky Lee is a priority.
don't worry about the rumour too much Jockpunk, rumour is all over the place when it comes close to the trade deadline. The real deal is always the one that we unheard of anyway.
I'll not be too worry about his production got affected, he should have more runs and rbi's when moved up in the order in another lineup and leaving a pitcher park.
