I haven't confirmed this yet, but a poster to a Cubs forum writes that ESPN Radio/Chicago reports that the MRI showed a torn ACL in Corey's left knee.
At the very least, Baker has removed Corey's name from the Internet voting for the final NL spot on the All-Star roster.

from rototimes:
Jul. 7 Corey Patterson (OF) ChN has a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the season, according to ESPN.

That is nuts!
He got up after the injury and walked off with very little help from the trainers.
The way he looked -- I thought he would stay in the game, honestly. Now he's out for the year? Oh my!

Yeah, a couple of years ago in the NFL, Olandis Gary tore his ACL and rushed for about 75 yards over the rest of the game. It happens like that.

ESPN.com now has the same secondhand report, still no official confirmation:

There is no way this is going to let them put Willis on the all star team, nor should they. For one thing, Patterson isn't on the all star team in the first place, so it has no effect. For another thing, they have to replace a position player with another position player, not a pitcher.
Face it, Willis is not going to the all star game nor does he deserve it. If Brown is unable to pitch, they should add someone like Hideo Nomo or Miguel Batista, who have pitched the whole season, have comparable stats, and are more deserving than Willis.

Now confirmed: Chicago Tribune/AP report:
"Outfielder Corey Patterson, arguably the Cubs' top hitter this season, has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and torn meniscus in his left knee. Outfielder Trenidad Hubbard has been brought from Triple-A Iowa to take his place."
