Yes, but how are we to assume that they are going to get behind the wheel of a car?

Maybe this isn't the case anymore but isn't it legal in Texas to have an open container in the car?

I guess I can understand wanting people not to drink/drive (though I think there are better methods), but aren't the people in the hotel bar generally patrons of the hotel? What are they going to do, drink and stumble?

There are a lot of dangerous and stupid things people do when they're intoxicated, other than get behind the wheel of a car," Beck said. "People walk out into traffic and get run over, people jump off of balconies trying to reach a swimming pool and miss."

Oh, I see. We're trying to stop the pervasive trend of getting drunk and jumping off balconies into a pool but missing.

Aren't there better ways to utilize our police?

People without rooms in the hotel, drink in hotel bars all the time down here. Typically they are looking for someone travelling alone and trying to get lucky. I've seen both men and women hunt for a "friend" for an evening in hotel bars. Not unusual at all.

Open container in a car (alcohol related container of course)? One way ticket to jail. Been that way for at least the last 15 years.
Yes doctor, I am sick.

Sick of those who are hypocrites.
Yes doctor, an army is forming.

Thanks for clarifying. I was finding it hard to believe that would still be legal.

My girl wants us to relocate to Houston... I'm going to have to mention this bar thing to her.

Other than what I've read in this thread, I've always liked Texas.

Yeah this went on here in Northern VA around last year. i think the cops took to much public heat and scrutiny for dragging people out of bars pretty much unjustly.
