my second autodraft team this season, i think i did good on hitting, not too great on pitching.
Hafner will qualify for 1st in a month. So perhaps Helton and some RPs? You're probably missing a #1 quality SP as well as a #2 quality SP, something such as a Zambrano/Pettitte flavor.
I think your team is good. If you're not going to have any SP, this is the way to do it. Your hitting is very solid, assuming Bonds plays a sufficient amount. Wilkerson should do a great job spelling him though. You may have to pay attention to whether Barry is going to play and when BW is at home. Your RP are tremendous too.
I'd try to trade a RP to a team lacking SV. If you have five solid ones, and five pro teams don't really have solid options right now (CIN, ATL, TB, FLA, KC), I'll bet some of your league is lacking. Zambrano and Pettitte are top 12 SP, so it's probably bullish to expect them in return for a single RP. But you can probably land a 1-for-1 from the following- Haren, Smoltz, Schmidt, Schilling, Patterson, Beckett, Lowry, Webb, Kazmir. Maybe move Wagner for one of the first six guys and Gordon for one of the last three. I like Vazquez, Lowe, and Duke as your 3-5 following two of the guys I named.
the sp on this team is nowhere near as bad as in another league....yet in both i endedup stacked at closer.
this draft just happened last night, so people are still making moves, etc.
i might try to move gordon for someone first.
a smoltz, beckett, webb, kazmir type would be great in return, if i can get it
Gordon will be a hard sell, being 38, being a setup man for years, and especially w/someone in Madson waiting in the wings. He may be more fit for the WW. What's on the WW in starting pitching?
As for the starters, it's definitely weak. Vazquez and Maddux are more #3 guys. I'd try trading Bonds, hoping someone isn't an expert and plays on name recognition, and buys high. You may be able to get a very good SP, Halladay/Carpenter type out of a deal like that straight up. It's at least a shot.
If not, I'd package Cordero and Gordon as a package deal for a starter, and you might get a Zito/Beckett type out of that. Cordero and Gordon have very big questionmarks coming into this year for sure, but someone desperate for saves may bite.
