My wife and I were talking about that same thing the other day. A local 17-year old has to register as a sex offender because his girlfriend was 15. That's a two year difference and now the kid is marked for life. My wife suggested a time gap between the 'perp' and the 'victim'. I'm not justifying what the kid did, he should have used his head, but that's quite the title you have to carry around, just for being a regular teenager...

That's funny - I JUST talked to a guy yesterday who had this happen to him. He was having trouble getting jobs because he screwed up (and screwed around) with a younger girl when he was still a teenager - something like two years' difference. Now he's having trouble getting a job and he says part of the problem is that he has to list his conviction on his applications.
I can't remember for sure, but I THINK he said she's his wife now.
Evidentally the Fort Worth police department set up a sting on the internet with a 13 year old kid as bait (don't know if it was a boy or girl), and a guy I know showed up.
Busted, hauled off to jail, they found like 20 gigs of kiddie porn on his computer, videos, DVDs, etc.
I didn't know him that well, but wouldn't have thought he'd be into that kind of garbage. Ah well, everyone in the area is aware of it now, and there's one less scumbag on the streets.

I had 527 listed on the map that show a 6-7 mile radius from my house...many of them red. Luckily, within a mile or so radius there are only 20 offenders (with only one being red).
