I was thinking of using him for some spot starts, but he's not taking a place on my regular roster

He's been going pretty late in the drafts I've been a part of...I've ended up drafting him in a few. I plan to pick my spots with him and bench him against Boston, etc.

I took him at the end of my draft in an 11 team league prolly in the 3rd to last round. It's a CBS league so I'll only be starting him if he's A: hot, or B: on a 2 start week against 2 bush teams. He's draftable if for no other reason than he starts for the best offense in the league.

His hot streaks stop dead in their tracks (ie. 8 ER in a game after 2 or 3 quality starts) and it's even a a tad too inconsistent to play against weak teams and sit against strong ones. You just never know what you'll get from him on any given day at this point in his career...

I think If the Spanky's do as good as everyone says they will then you can count on the moose to produce.

The crucial thing with Mussina is that his K/9 the last two years is right around his career average, another is the guy still knows how to pitch. This combined with pitching behind a great offensive team means he should still be drafted in all standard Roto and H2H leagues at least.

He will get lit up from time to time but he rarely does at home and you will still get decent 4th starter production out of him if you sit him against the Red Sox and away against teams like Texas.

And if he does give you what he did at the end of 2004 which is not at all unlikely, you've got one helluva bargain.

I got mussina in the 13th round pick 152 in my 12 team H2H league. He should be fine as your 4th or 5th starter. I dont see how he can go undrafted in a league or in the last 3 rounds. The pitchers available in the last couple of rounds in my leagues are pitchers like Orlando Hernandez and Jae Sao.

i got moose in the 19th round.... i dunno. was thinking of dropping him for farnsworth.
