so, my rational in the draft was to take the best availble player, and then trade to balance my team later. and i lucked out on my first three picks as pujols slipped to me at the 3rd pick (dumb cubs fan took d.lee with the 2nd pick), wright with my second, and crawford somehow fell to the third. i was planning on taking a stud pitcher w/ my 3rd pick, but i couldn't let crawford go.
i'm looking to move either c.jones or sexson for a quality outfielder.
i am entertaining the idea of trading chipper for vernon wells straight up, but i feel like i'm kinda giveing more than i'm getting in that one, even though i fell like wells will return to '03 form, now that he's healthy and has protection in the lineup.
so i'll take any and all opinions. do i have good balance? i know i need another outfielder, and there's no point leaving sexson or jones on the bench, and i think fielder will be startable come the all star break, so i've gotta move somebody
leave a link for your team, and i'll try to do the same.
thanks

I think that trade is pretty well fair, and it would certainly help you, so offer it. Those guys have similar ceilings, though Chipper's more of a sure thing, Wells probably has a little nicer upside, and he's more versatile. Offer it, and you should be alright without moving anyone else. Good balance, I like it.
I think Chipper for Vernon Wells is a bit risky since Wells is on the downslope. He's still a solid player though, so if you're willing to take the risk of a massive drop in production by Wells then I would go for it because he may very well put up numbers like he did two years ago.
Everything else is pretty solid though, I'd pay close attention to Johjima because no one is quite sure how he's going to respond to the different style of play.
Prince Fielder is another guy to keep a close eye on. I have him too and as much as I believe in the guy, he could easily get dropped/traded early in the season.
balance wise it looks fine
but injury concern with griffey/sexson etc
if they do miss time, you will miss your powers
pitchers are nice
although i would like it more if you have more starters
your relievers are very strong
and it seems like you have a bit too many set up? (i just think they are less important than starters and relievers in general therefore even if you need one middle of the season you can still pick up some set up but starters/relievers run out quicker..therefore you want to grab all you can in the beginning)
many waive one and get a quality/underrated starter like bedard/daniel cabrera or somebody in that calibre
It's a nice looking team..but nothing fancy..in a ten team mixed league everyone's team should look like that. Pujols was a nice pick at 3 but is he really better than Derek Lee. Lee steals more bases and his OPS is not that far behind..thats really a personal choice.
You have a couple injury questions in Griffey, Wilson, and Sexson. Plus with Furcal moving to LA you can count one some sort of a drop off in his production.
On the plus I love your RP's. Very solid. and you have nice depth in both your SP and RP slots. I love the kid Young in SD.
Overall a team that can compete if it remains healthy, but hardly stacked in a 10 team league.

Trade for Wells, he is going to be good this year with his surroundings. The rest of your team looks good. Look for the ww early to get someone who can help out if griffy or sexon get hurt. Just my opinion.

Amazing to me that you were able to land Pujols, Lee, and Wright in a ten-team draft. Someone in that league isn't paying attention...
that's cliff lee...the pitcher. but pujols, wright, crawford is what surprised me. and there is no question that pujols is better that d.lee. imo
here's this team in our league, that i've been trying o work out a little something with.
pedro
halladay
gange
madsen
m.gonzales
sabathia
buehrle
jenks
contreras
bonderman
i was thinking of throwing out the sexson/lowry for sizemore/halladay
i am in need of a backup outfielder, and this way i can play griffey and preston as alternates, adn start sizemore and crawford.
however, my batting takes a big hit, and how good is lowry gonna be?
any other trade suggestions are appreciated[/i]
