I am in the middle of writing a research paper about the integration of the major leagues. Right now, I am looking into the impact that the Negro Leagues has on today.
I need to find some sort of connection to modern baseball.
Maybe involving diversity today within the league?
Could I do something with the Sosa, Migwire HR race
How can I connect Race into modern baseball and have something fun to research.
Perhaps you could write about the integration of the front offices, which is still a very slow process. Even the manager's role has rarely been filled by African-Americans.

How about writing a paper on why when compared to the rest of society there is a disproportionate percentage of African Americans playing major league baseball? There are many reasons for this but one of the most likely is the lack of opportunity in rural areas for blacks to even play baseball.
Here's an article on it that might be a good place to start if you're interested.
As long as you are in Massachusetts you could make the connection on which geographical cities were slowest to integrate like Boston, but how some cities like Philly for instance have virtually no foreigners including African-Americans with the exception of new roster member Tom Gordon, and Jimmy Rollns who wants out of Philly after this year.
Forget the man crush. I drop what I'm doing to watch Zack Greinke pitch.

Maybe you could talk about the Negro league's impact in bringing baseball to black communities, and making playing baseball a realistic dream/career for young black kids, hence leading to the large number of black players

Realistic? There's about 100 African American players in all of MLB. Not sure I'd call that realistic. Unrealistic expectations of making it in professional sports is actually a huge problem among some young people.

Wow, I had definitely thought there was more than that. Either way, I was just throwing some ideas out there to maybe help him figure out what direction to go
