Prospect draft question, 2 picks!

Postby JHubRoyals » Mon Mar 20, 2006 7:11 pm

My leagues prospect draft is starting and i have the last pick of the first round and then the first pick of the second round...back to back picks. I've narrowed it down to about 10 players. Which two of these players would you select? Who has the most upside?

Felix Pie OF CHC
Jarrod Saltalamacchia C ATL
Andy Laroche 3B LAD
Chris Young OF ARZ
Joel Zumaya P DET
Nick Markakis OF BAL
Kendry Morales INF LAA
Scott Olsen P FLA
Carlos Gonzales OF ARZ
Jeremy Sowers P CLE
Mike Pelfrey P NYM
Brian Anderson OF CWS

Thanks for any help

Are you sure that is the best available? A lot must have been taken in the major league draft. Of those, I would take Chris Young and Mike Pelfrey

The guys with the most upside are Zumaya & Pelfrey. But i consider Saltalamacchia more likely to reach his potenial than Zumaya.

Well it would help to know what you don't need and what you do, it would make some difference. Since you don't have another pick after this for 20 more picks, you should probably grab an arm and Pelfrey is the best arm that you listed. On the hitting side you have a few that are considered pretty good: Pie/Salty/Laroche/Young. Since i don't know much about your roster I might say take the one the best fits your positional needs.

Young and LaRoche are probably the best hitters there. I'd personally take both of them but I despise taking pitching in prospect drafts (especially since we can only keep them as a prospect in their rookie year and then have to burn one of our 6 keeper spots if we want to keep them in my league...not nearly enough to evaluate most pitchers).

It would be helpful to get a little more info on your league......you've got a large range of times it will take for your listed guys to get to the Show, and which ones you take could easily be weighted by your league rules and parameters regarding prospects.
