Does anyone know what is going on with him. Is he going to be starting the season on the DL? Doesn't seem to be anything I can find on him. Thanks.

I think he was pitching in the WBC so I don't think he would start the season on the DL.

He'll be starting in the rotation.

Kelvim Escobar pitched 72/3 innings in the World Baseball Classic, more than any other Venezuelan pitcher, and he said, "It really felt like the playoffs."

The Angels have decided to slow him down this spring so he doesn't overwork his arm. He's on target to pitch the home opener, the Angels' fourth game of the season. He threw two innings in a minor league game on Saturday reaching 97 mph on the radar gun.

I like Escobar. He can be a good strikeout guy when healthy. Low risk, high reward.

Ditto. ;-D

My only concern is I dropped E. Santana to grab him. I hope Escobar can just stay healthy, then I'll watch the k's rain down...

He is topping out at 97 and scheduled for game 4 of the season (the home opener). I was impressed with him this spring. If he stays healthy he can match his 2004 numbers.
