hello, I was wondering if Shigeto Hasegawa is the closer in the Seattle for the next month while Sasaki recovers. it would be nice to know if he has out lasted his comepetition of Rhodes and Nelson.
Is it still closer by committee, or has Hasegawa proved himself worthy? Any information is helpful, especially from someone in Seattle.
Hasegawa is the frontrunner right now. If he can convert his next 3 or 4 chances as easily as he did last night, I think they will stick with him until Sasaki comes back. Unfortunately, when it comes to bullpen by committe, no one is absolutely sure who is going to end up with the job.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
According to Fanball, it appears that Hasegawa is now indeed named the closer:

Bob Melvin named reliever Shigetoshi Hasegawa as the team's new closer following Saturday's save, the Tacoma News Tribune reported. Hasegawa will hold the role until the injured Kazuhiro Sasaki returns. "He gets both lefties and righties out, and in situations where teams have both coming up, he fits," Melvin said. "In a perfect world, Shige is the closer." Jeff Nelson and Arthur Rhodes had been shaky in attempting to save recent games.

Seattle is not expecting Sasaki to return until August, so fantasy owners in need of saves should definitely jump on Hasegawa.
