Just drafted this team in a 9-team roto league with my buddies (non-keeper)... I had 5th pick, it was a kinda wierd draft since some of them are pretty bad, so I had to adjust my strategy on the fly a bit. kinda wierd cats also: R, H, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, TB, E, AVG, W, L, CG, SHO, SV, HR, BB, K, ERA, WHIP, K/9
Anyways, here it is:
C Ramon Hernandez (Round 26)
1B Tex (1)
2B Utley (3)
SS Lopez (9)
3B Blalock (10)
IF Berkman (5)
OF Bay (2)
OF Beltran (6)
OF Matsui (8)
OF Tracy (18)
Util Hafner (4)
Util Prince (21)
SP Smoltz (7)
SP Myers (11)
SP Patterson (13)
RP Hoffman (12)
RP Jenks (15)
RP Gonzalez (19)
P Lackey (14)
P Davis (16)
P Lowry (17)
P Kazmir (20)
B Escobar (22)
B Orvella (23)
B Atkins (24)
B Mench (25)
B Gibbons (27)
B D Cabrera (28)
I think my offense is solid, but my pitching needs some work. Pretty much all of the aces went in round 1,2,3 and with guys like utley on the board in the third I couldnt bring myself to do it. I think my pitching is pretty solid all the way through, with a number of #2 & 3 guys, but not really a solid #1. I may try to package some of my offense and a P for a stud SP but it may be hard since the guys in my league value pitching way too much.
It's hard for me to get a fix on a NINE Team draft. Obviously, your team is loaded. My big question mark is Myers. I don't trust Philly pitching. In that park...Gotta be studs on the waiver wire.

Unfortunately there aren't that many great people on the wire. Because of the number of players we have, we end up having about the same amount as a standard 12 team league:
12 Hitters X 9 Teams = 108 hitters drafted
9 Hitters X 12 Teams = 108 hitters drafted
10 Pitchers X 9 Teams = 90 Pitchers drafted
7 Pitchers X 12 Teams = 84 Pitchers drafted
6 Bench X 9 Teams = 54 bench drafted
5 Bench X 12 Teams = 60 bench drafted
So essentially, the number of players drafted is equivalent to that of a standard 12 team league...
Too bad that isnt a keeper. You would have your hitters set for a long time. I think your pitching will do just fine. D. Cabrera and K.Escobar should do well this year and Smoltz should be Smoltz. All is all, your team as a whole looks like a top 3 at least.
Your hitting should carry your pitching IMO. You are gonna lack on the ERA, WHIP and K's for pitching maybe even saves with a 9 team league but your hitting should be one of the best in the league.
I would wait around and see who does good at the beginning of the season for SP
Yeah, Id wait till one of your middle tier hitters catches fire...then automatically trade him for a bigger starting pitcher. I really like your hitting and like your SP more than the previous posters. You went with the good strategy of take big name hitters and very good middle tier starters, nice plan. Thanks for the help with my post.

9 teams is weird and all those stat categories are tough to figure out, but I like your team. Your pitching is weak. Utley in the 3rd round is amazing. Matsui in the 8th? Nice. I'd try to get some pitching. I like to target Vazquez, Harden, and C. Zambrano. Looks like top closers could be more valuable. They help you win K/9, L, SV, HR, BB, ERA, WHIP. I'd try to get some top closers with high K's for that alone.
