They just annouced on the YES srpint training game that Al Leiter has announced his retirement. He's pitching right now for the last time. He's had a pretty good career and I don't mean any disrepect, but...... Thank God and it's about time! He should have retired after his start in Boston last season in which he pitched like it was 1997 again. I was worried the Yanks would use him some this season.

Why didn't he retire before the WBC, I can understand wanting to play in it but he was completely useless.

That said no one roster spot would of saved the US from how they finished, that played lackluster in the whole tournament except for one inning.

Thats sad, leiter was always a solid pitcher with a good career and was always a very nice guy in interviews and press coverage. He was just getting too old for the game...
Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!

Yeah, he was good every other year about 5 years ago. His time was well overdue.
