OK, that makes sense. I was thinking banned from being elected.

All four (Joe and Pete) for gambling related offenses. Sorry BB haters, there is no precedent for banning based on trying to become a better player in ways others do as well.

Fri, 17 March 1985 Commissioner Peter Ueberroth reinstated Hall of Famers Mickey
Mantle and Willie Mays. The two Hall of Famers had been banned from
associating with major league baseball due to their employment with Atlantic City casinos.

Well the first two that came to mind were Speaker and Cobb who were both temporarily banned from baseball for gambling allegations. The HoF part threw me off. There is one unforgivable sin in baseball and it is what seperates actual sports from the WWF.

I guess you could argue Cobb was better than Mays and/or Mantle but I believe both have a higher adjusted career EqA.
