I was at this game, and also Oakland's loss to Moyer last Monday.
It's the same old story - the A's are horrible
at manufacturing runs. Yesterday the Angels executed textbook small ball to get their man home after a leadoff double. The A's, meanwhile, swung for the fences. Same thing against Moyer.
I commented to my friend that it's too bad that Interleague play hasn't taught the A's how to play NL style ball. Is it Valentine who always says, "get 'em on, get 'em over, get 'em in."
It'll be the same old story when the playoffs come round. Until the A's learn how to run the basepaths, advance runners, and score that one run in a close game they are destined for a first round exit.
