Oldtimers: What did you do for your league's 1994 title?

Was going through old records for my league and wondered this. The strike cut the season off at Week 17 of 24 or so, and in our league the leading team was up by just one point. Since the season ended then we awarded him the title, though not without controversy...was wondering what other old-timer leagues that may be on here did.

Surely your only options are a) Give the leading guy the title or b) declare the season null and void?

I think it was primarily out of spite for baseball (both the owners and players) that we awarded a title. Couldn't let them ruin our fun.

I just cracked open a folder of old 1993 junk and found the "Sporting News Fantasy Baseball Spring Supplement." Back when they snail-mailed them. Good times.

Just wondering, but how old is you league? Has there been much turnover?

1992. Mainly the same group of guys from high school still in it.

We play through Yahoo these days like many others, but winning in "the old neighborhood league," against guys you grew up with, can't be beat.

All my leagues awarded the title to the team who was currently in first. Stunk too, since I was in second place in two of them.

yea, I would think you would have to award the leader the title. You agreed to play the game for the regular season, and that was indeed the regular season.

although, the fairest thing to do might be to just return the money, roll it over to next year

reminds me that our league historian wrote a funny article regarding the disappointment in the season ending strike in our league newsletter (yeah we had one back then pre-internet) titled "there is nothing as painful as coitus interruptus" .. we gave the winner a hard time but he still got the yoohoo shower

I remember being in third, the guy in first was being an ass about the entire thing. He would call other people in the league and ask "You hear anything more about when the strike will start?" or "Will they please just start the strike already, I'm only up by 2 points."

that season sadly ended my fantasy baseball playing for the next 4 years.... only because I went to college where it seemed nobody I knew played it and the internet was too slow (had internet fantasy baseball been invented yet?)

Oh, and we called the season a scratch and nobody won the title.
