How bad is it?

Postby Dep » Tue Mar 14, 2006 5:26 pm

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I missed my leagues draft and had to settle for the computer picking for me. (It's a 12 team Yahoo league.)

I've got a few great players, but over all team, I'm not too sure.

The stat categories are:
R, H, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, OPS, W, L, SV, K, ERA, WHIP, K/9

my team is:

C K. Johjima (Sea - C)
1B R. Howard (Phi - 1B)
2B A. Soriano (Was - 2B)
3B H. Blalock (Tex - 3B)
SS M. Young (Tex - SS)
OF M. Ramírez (Bos - OF)
OF S. Podsednik (CWS - OF)
OF C. Tracy (Ari - 1B,OF)
Util J. Rollins (Phi - SS)
Util T. Hafner (Cle - Util)
BN T. Iguchi (CWS - 2B)
BN K. Mench (Tex - OF)

Pitching

SP J. Peavy (SD - SP)
SP R. Harden (Oak - SP)
RP E. Guardado (Sea - RP)
RP B. Fuentes (Col - RP)
P B. Myers (Phi - SP)
P J. Schmidt (SF - SP)
P D. Báez (LAD - RP)
BN J. Westbrook (Cle - SP)
BN N. Lowry (SF - SP)
BN F. Hernández (Sea - SP)

I have been offered G Anderson for Harden, but I turned down that deal. I don't think he would make my OF much better, and Harden should be worth more.

Thanks for any ideas.

Good call on declining that trade, it wouldn't have helped you. The first thing that I would do is try to move Podsednik for a more all around outfielder. His high number of steals are attractive, so hopefully he'll bring you good value; but his injuries last year concern me and the fact that he doesn't do much else but steal is also a concern. You'll get steals from Soriano, Young, & Rollins...and hopefully 15-20 from whoever you get for Podsednik. You'll have solid power numbers with big bats like Manny, Hafner, Howard and more. You'll also rack up the K's with your staff. I'd like to have 3 closers in a 12 team league to compete in saves...so look for those closer roles that may change. With that though, don't be afraid to let Baez go if there is a solid OF or SP available as a free agent. Good squad...best of luck! Offensively you look really solid, i think your real strength is steals and it is from there that you can deal. Keep Harden he should have a very good season and be an elite level pitcher, good call on that one.
I am not a Pods fan, apart from his steals he hurts you in a lot of categories so I would agree that he would be movable for all around Of or closer help, maybe package him with guardado for an upper end closer.

nice draft.
