Anyone got any inside info on prior? I know something is going on, and you can't trust the cubs. Remember that year they said he would be ready for opening day and he came back like halfways through the season. I would appriciate it

Prior is so behind in his spring traning because or a two-week respiratory infection more than three months ago. Questionable to say the least.

But finally, Prior is actually pitching. Because we can't believe anything that comes out of the Cubs mouths, nothing is more encouraging than to see the thick-calved young man take the hill.

He threw 25 pitches on Feb 27.
He threw 50 pitches on March 2.
He threw 52 pitches on March 5.
He threw 30-something pitches on March 8
He threw a simulated game on March 11, and he's probably going to throw one more before facing a real opponent. He might not be ready for his first start, in which case the Cubs would turn to a four-man rotation, but he should be ready in the first couple weeks.

In his lastest simlulated game, he was taken out becuae of rotator cuff problems. Bad sign for Prior owners.

Prior is on pace to take over Kerry Wood in all time simulated game wins for the Cubs. Seriously, what the heck is a simulated game?

He went to see a shoulder specialist because he felt pain in his shoulder. There were red flags all over this spring training. Hasn't pitched any Cactus League games, reporters weren't allowed to see his throwing sessions, he was so far behind because of trip to the emergency room....doesn't add up.

Either Prior is a china doll like Wood or a pansy who refuses to pitch with any pain/irritation.

Rotoworld --- Following a visit to Dr. Lewis Yocum, Mark Prior's injury is being called a posterior shoulder strain. He'll undergo an MRI today to attempt to confirm the diagnosis.

Prior was supposed to undergo the MRI yesterday, but he had personal business to attend to in San Diego. The Cubs say they are encouraged by the initial diagnosis. "For me, I'm very pleased," trainer Mark O'Neal said. "There's extremely bad news that could've come out of it. This is a posterior shoulder strain, and we'll deal with it like you would a hamstring strain. Unfortunately, it's in the shoulder. For us, it's pretty good news."
