I don't think that you can really blame the wind for Wood getting lit up; I'd blame his 6 walks and only one K. He's a guy that has to dominate and get 1-2 Ks an inning to have a good start. He could have kept the score from running up if he struck the guys out instead of letting them make contact and could have limited the damage if he didn't walk so many runners.
Clement's disaster was more a case of it being a torrential monsoon when the game was played and the weather preventing his sinker from sinking properly, turning it into batting practise.
