Rotoworld:
Jaret Wright was lit up by the Pirates on Monday, surrendering eight runs and 11 hits in three innings.
"It was a real tough day," he said. "Physically, I feel fine. It's just like a dead day. I didn't have anything. It seemed like everything I threw was hitting speed. I got beat up pretty good." What little chance the Yankees had of finding a taker this spring for a portion of Wright's contract may have disappeared today.
Ahhh..you arre definitely worth that 3 year, big bucks contract extension there Cashman....yes indeed.
Anyone notice how terrible the Yanks' rotation will be in the coming years? Mussina is done and declining (his ERA will be close to 5 this season) and RJ is thier only good pitcher and he's nearing 50. Other than that, they don't have any remotely decent starters. I would not be optimistic if I was a Yankee fan

Coming years? Mussina's contract is done after this year. Johnson's after next. Wright's can be voided after this year. Pavano is the only starter that sucks and is locked up for a decently long amount of time (3 more years, including 2006).
The rotation will look different next year, and completely different in 2008.

Exactly.
There are some big names coming up in the FA market over the next couple years, and I'd be surprised if the Yankees don't come away with a couple of them:
2006:
Barry Zito Andy Pettitte
Mark Mulder
Jason Schmidt
Kelvim Escobar
Doug Davis
2007:
Bartolo Colon
Freddy Garcia
Roy Halladay Carlos Zambrano Josh Beckett
Roy Oswalt CC Sabathia
