I personaly like going a pitcher or a position player then the opposite.
I recently listened to "experts" say they like going all postion players first 9 rounds or so. What does everyone else think??

First 5 round I take the best player regardless of position. After that you can start looking to fill holes.

Agreed. I won't take 3 1B though in the first 3 rounds, but I'll definately not skip a great OF to get a decent SS.

Never go by Yahoo's rankings!

Most people will put together their own rankings and draft accordingly.

I tend to put my rankings together based on my own projections, a look at mock drafts & other projections to see how others value particular players, and add a bit of gut instinct into the mix!

Call me crazy, but I always try to have a top SP and RP after round 6. I won't reach for a player, but I've found that if I have a reliable ace to form a decent SP core around I get a better team.

Same for a closer. If I can snag a top one fairly early, then I can avoid any runs later.

After 10 rounds I usually have 8 bats and a top SP and RP.
Can we build it?

I like to get a closer in the first 5 rounds, I won't usually take a SP until at least round 7 unless someone really falls far. I go with the best hitter available other than that, even if that fills up my utility slot early.

Would you all agree that pitchers, especially starters, are more of a value in roto as opposed to H2H?

Its not really about pitcher value, its about pitcher risk. Way too many pitchers get hurt each year to be spending your early picks on them. Quite a number of pitchers break out and have good years each year.

I think pitchers gain value in leagues that have a maximum inning limits since you need to make the best out of every inning rather than just throwing tons of starters out there.
