Greinke Update

Greinke (emotional stress) is currently at home in Florida and will not return to the Royals for another 2-3 weeks. This means he will not be ready by opening day and will invariably remain in extended spring training when he does return instead of immediately joining the Royals rotation. Greinke still has enormous potential but owners should prepare themselves for continued growing pains. Advice let someone else deal with the headache.

I personally think he's worth the $1.....if they let him pitch instead of insisting he throw 3 straight innings of fastballs.......or better yet, if he get's traded (drooooooool).

I don't know how much a trade would help. He's in one of the best pitchers parks (5th) and has a poor HR/9 ratio. Kauffman is a pitchers park not because of average, but because of HR difficulty. At this point that leaves RFK, PETCO, Dolphins Stadium, PNC and SAFECO as places you'd want him to go. Otherwise the question is, are worse ERA, WHIP and K worth the extra wins?

I don't know, but I would think anybody's HR/9 would go up if your managers told you to throw only dead red for the first few innings each game.

I don't think his decline from his minor league success has anything to do with mechanics or physical injury. Therefore, I think if properly managed and allowed to pitch "his" type of finesse game he could be great value coming out of your last pick in the draft ($1).

Royals pitcher Zack Greinke is expected to start the season on the 15-day disabled list. Greinke, who left camp on February 25, has been diagnosed with a specific medical condition while undergoing psychological counseling near his home in Orlando.

Our View
If you lost 17 games and got the fourth worst run support in baseball, you'd probably be struggling mentally as well. There has been no real timetable set for his return and he probably shouldn't factor into your fantasy team's plans this season.
