Out of those listed prospects I would say these 3 have the best shot to be called up first:

Billingsley: One of their pitchers will suck or get hurt, and he is next in line. Actually I think he should already have a spot in their rotation, but it seems they would rather wait and force him to play in AAA Coors.

Drew: Counsell is hurt and Callaspo could struggle if he starts. Gives Drew enough time to beat up on AA/AAA pitching and make a serious case for himself.

Kendrick: Top prospect with only Kennedy blocking him, which really isn't blocking as much as a temporary bump in the road.

I would agree with the above. I cant wait to see Upton up in the majors (prob in 07 sometime)..he is tearing up spring training..

There could be another set of infieding brothers in the league in 3 years when Jemille Weeks, brother of Rickie (possibly) enters the draft.

Also should Add Andy Marte, who will be up quick if he kill AAA pitching and Boone sucks (niether of which is a long shot).

Edit: Stupidity in spelling.

Ah, Nick Markakis...he may well make the team out of spring training. Has a decent shot of grabbing a starting job over Millar and Conine.

I agree w/ most of what's been said. And under the circumstance, seems like Drew has the best shot at landing an everyday job (and keeping it) before long.

OTOH, I really doubt Markakis has a real shot at grabbing the starting job over both Millar and Conine before midseason (or whenever the Birds give up on the year). Afterall, they didn't sign those guys for nothing. Markakis would probably have to go nuts while the others do very poorly in ST for him to even have a shot at all at grabbing the starting job. As it is now, he's just fighting to make the team, not to win a starting job.
Just another amateur learning to paint w/ "the light of the world".

Marte, according to the Cleveland news reports up here, seems to be having a decent spring.

Boone is a flop IMO and Marte could be doing the job outright after spring training....if not right away, I think he'll be called up quickly.

Stephen Drew With Counsell hurt, and trading away Cintron...
They are making it known, Stephen Drew is ready now ;-D

Stephen Drew - SS - Diamondbacks

Manager Bob Melvin said Friday that if Craig Counsell's shoulder keeps him out for an extended period of time at some point, Stephen Drew may start at shortstop.
The Diamondbacks moved up Drew's timetable by trading utility man Alex Cintron the White Sox. "He's a natural, an absolute natural at his position," Melvin said. "He has all the action down very well. You can see he has ball sense. He knows how to play guys, when guys are off a little too far. Instinctively, he gets over there." Mar. 11 - 9:29 am et
