Edmonds the best ever?

Postby #1Cards_Fan » Thu Mar 09, 2006 2:29 pm

I think that Jim Edmonds is the greatest centerfielder there ever was.. maybe even outfielder. That could be because he's my personal hero, or it could be that he's just got that much talent. And people gripe about low BAs.. If he's hitting around 39/110 like a couple of years ago, who cares what his average is!? I think I'm wrong on the RBI.. oh well. I'll be corrected probably.

I'm not sure Edmonds is the greatest CF in Cardinal history?

i think edmonds is underrated. everyone seems to say he is on the outside looking in when it comes to the HOF. i guess it all depends on whether you consider his position to be centerfield or just outfield. his numbers arent all that special for an outfielder but really stand out if you just compare him to centerfielders. most people just know him as a webgem machine that strikes out a lot, but he has well above average power and on base ability coupled with above average defense at an important defensive position.

Edmonds is one of the most underrated CFers of all time but definitely not the best ever. If I had one he'd definitely get my vote for the HoF.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Willie Mays is the best outfielder ever, but at CF, Edmonds is up there. Andruw Jones is excellent too, but nowhere near Jimmy's level.

I agree. Edmonds is good, but he's certainly not the greatest CF ever .. maybe of his generation ... maybe. As for best OF ever, that is just ridiculous. He's not even in the top 5 best OF of his generation.

i think he's defensively the best outfielder in the generation, but as for offense he is way down the list, id say he'll make the hall because of all those gold gloves
