Can anyone here say they came away from the draft with 100% certainty that they left no stone uncovered and their is nobody on FA that MAY be a better fit on their rosters? As much as I prepare for the draft and with all my fantasy experience.....I have never been completly satisfied with my team after the draft. Their have ALWAYS been question marks.
I can come away from a draft satisfied with my team for the most part...and then I start the process of analyzing the other teams in my league. If/when I come across a couple managers who seem to have very solid teams who I feel will compete for lst place....I then adjust my team whichever way is needed until I feel comfortable that I have an as good or better team.
Being patient has nothing to do with it IMO. If the day comes that I assemble the perfect team.....then I will sit on my roster. But...I will always find a hole in my team somewhere that needs to be plugged. Call it the endless quest for fantasy perfection since I am not in the game to finish in 2nd place.
There's a difference between wanting to better your team, and making WW moves before the season starts. How many transactions can you make before a season starts when you don't have any new information about the players? I've drafted teams which I think were pretty amazing considering pre-season information. Why do roster churning before a single game is played??
Sure, take make trades that help your team and give you the edge. However, every year solid to above average players appear on the WW. Why make a trade for a position which could be filled with no cost? Having a little patience can allow for value in any league.
