Slight upgrade for Beltre at 3rd? Where do you rank him?

Postby kemper5 » Tue Mar 07, 2006 10:25 pm

After watching Beltre today and watching him crush those homers, I could not help but think how he may be in for a slightly better year than last years dissapointment. Im not predicting a 35+, 110+ type season, but a slight upgrade to maybe a 24 HR, 90 RBI, .275 type season which is decent, but not great. I currently have him ranked as my 12th best 3rd baseman, where do you rank him?
My list is below..

Arod
Cabrera
Wright
Blalock
Chavez
Ramirez
Cantu
Huff
Ensberg
Figgins
Atkins
Beltre
Jones
Rolen

I'd move Rolen and Chipper ahead of him, but Atkins below. I assume when he goes back to playing for the mariners he won't give a crap

I've had him as 8th the whole preseason so nothing I really saw today is going to change that. I don't expect a year like 04 but certainly much better than last year. I also don't like Blalock being so high on your list, check out his splits away and against LHP.

I think that list needs some work. Chipper isa lot better than Huff and Atkins and Blalock imo. Same for ROlen save for some injury concerns. Beltre you can put a the very bottom imo. I would even speculate on Atkins before Beltre.

I think you all have Beltre too low.

Arod
Cabrera
Wright
Figgins
Blalock
Chavez
Aramis
Beltre

I think Ensberg is due for a drop and Chipper and Rolen have seen their best days. I'm putting him 8th.

I hope you make good choices elsewhere then since you are likely to be overpaying for him~

I don't buy this. Everyone thinks he was a one year wonder.

If experience has taught me anything, it's that the best time to pick up a player is the year after he burns a large number of people. They'll avoid him like the plague and even those who don't avoid him completely will underrate him. This year, I'll target Beltre, Pitty, and Morneau in the mid to late rounds. I should be able to get all of them then.

(Pitty in the late, late rounds)
