Actually, it's been medically proven that steroids can improve eye vision. Anyone who's ever played the game would undoubtedly say that eye vision DOES help you make contact or hit the ball further.

Basic physics? Steroids aid in building muscle mass. More muscle with the same weight of bat means you can swing at a great acceleration. AKA, more force. The ball weighs the same, but you put more force into it. More force on a constant mass=faster acceleration, a faster acceleration means a faster velocity, and a faster velocity equals further distance traveled.
As for hand-eye coordination, in the book, they have from various seized federal records that Bonds noted an improvement in his eyesight after taking HGH.
The preponderance of evidence is by far the most detailed and damning condemnation that Bonds, formerly a sleek five-tool player, built himself into a hulking, record-setting home run hitter at an advanced baseball age with a cornucopia of elaborate, illegally-administered chemicals.
Everyone wanted evidence, looks like there is a ton of it in the book.
When faced with overwhelming evidence that you really can't counter, do the next best thing: DISCREDIT THE SOURCES! SLING MUD! If it's good enough for politics, its damn fine for sports.

Obviously there are other factors, but thats far more complicated and didn't feel it was necessary. Obviously, you have to have the right pitchs to hit and also have to change your swing to hit home runs and such.
