I completed my first auction draft of our 15 year old league last weekend. I would like to get your thoughts. It's a Mixed 5x5 Keeper League, $290 salary cap. 9 batters, 9 pitchers, 5 reserves any position. Keepers have an * after them.
C McCann $2*
1B Morneau $4*
2B Weeks $2*
3B Encarnacion $2*
SS Furcal $22
OF Berkman $30
OF Brian Giles $20
OF Sheffield $27
DH Sexson $21
RES Polanco $7
RES Holliday $4
RES Willingham $7
P Oswalt $37
P Jason Schmidt $25
P Millwood $9
P Petitte $14
P Radke $9
P CC Sabathia $17
P Foulke $13
P Jose Valverde $16
P Street $2*
RES Brandon McCarthy $3
I know I overpaid for Oswalt and Schmidt, but 5 pitchers went over $40, and 11 went from $30-$39, only 3 of which were relievers.
Baseball is a game where a curve is an optical illusion, a screwball can be a pitch or a person, stealing is legal and you can spit anywhere you like except in the umpire's eye or on the ball. ~Jim Murray
Looks good assuming you have at least 12 teams. I might try and move one of your OF for a more reliable 3b. Let holliday play, he will put top 60 overall number IMO. I don't think you overpaid for oswalt. that seems to be about his value in auctions i've done so far. Great SP depth. Looks like a solid squad.
doesnt seem like u looked at his team, just trying to get post for ur topic
on the real ur team needs help at 3rd second and 2nd but other then that it was an overall good draft
Thanks. I had a decent team last year but not too many keeper prospects, though for the price, there aren't too many 3B that will give me the projected value that Encarnacion has. Same for Weeks.

IMHO,
these guys were overpaid: Valverde, Willingham, B. Giles
these guys went cheap (maybe TOO cheap?!!): Holliday, Street
I don't like Millwood this year, he'll definitely blow up that ERA pitching in Texas. If your 1B,2B,3B produce... your team can be a top contender this season.
