:,-( Thanks Kirby!!!!

Kirby was one of the good guys who really exemplified what a professional athlete should be. One of the reasons I fell in love with baseball growing up.

Just one of those guys you couldn't help but love.

"I was told I would never make it because I'm too short. Well, I'm still too short, but I've got 10 All-Star games, two World Series championships, and I'm a very happy and contented guy. It doesn't matter what your height is, it's what's in your heart." - Kirby Puckett

"Don't take anything for granted, because tomorrow is not promised to any of us." - Kirby Puckett

It is a sad day for baseball. A man with a love of the game who gave it his all every day is gone. He will always have that big smile of his in my memories. RIP Kirby.

Jeez - he was so young. I was never a Twins fan but I loved watching him play. I used to laugh watching him running the bases, wondering how he could run so good with that big ol' fat butt of his - so sad to see someone like him go before his time. A sad day for baseball.

RIP Kirby. :,-(

I don't know the off-the field story, and we probably will never know the whole story, but he was definitely a class act on the field.
Bluto: Over? Did you say over? NOTHING is over until WE decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? HELL, NO!
Otter: Germans?
Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.

RIP Kirby.

Twins fans (and baseball fans) will always remember the joy you brought to the game, and your everlasting smile.

Kirby always found a way to have fun no matter what he did. He used to come to the track I worked at on occasion. Kirby would bet every horse in the race, just so he could always cash a ticket and say he had a bet on the winner.

He was a rare breed, and a Triple Crown winner as a person.

My prayers are with his family and friends.

RIP. It's unfortunate that he passed so early, and my condolences go out to his family and friends, but the fact that he is still so beloved shows the hypocricy in sports. Apparently, if you play the game with a smile on your face, nothing else you do matters and you will still get a hero's welcome upon death.

Again...I'm sorry to see him go, but let's not confuse the player with the man.
