What are you projecting for Vlad 2006?

I've got the #4 pick in a buddies league - the first 2 picks will take A-Rod and Pujols off the board regardless of order, but the third GM I'm not sure about.

If he banks a lot on last year's stats, he may go with Papi as he's a huge Papi fan, but the consensus pick for #3 would be Vlad.

Without naming any other players (in case any of my leaguemates drop by this thread), what do you guys think of Vlad's stat line this year with his injury risk and the death of his cousins?

Ignore the deaths of his cousins. That was only a small part of why he chose not to play in the WBC.

Stats: .330-.410-.590-37 HR-115 RBI-100 R-12 SB

Hitters like Garret Anderson are declining but they have rising stars like Kotchman, so a modest decline in his RBI/R might occur, but not by much. Moreso in RBI than R, because he does have Chone at the top to drive in, while the protection behind him isn't that great.

Agree, but I think even with GA declining he will provide more protection this year if he's healthy. GA will be a better player just because he is healthy.

Also, Vlad had zero protection in Montreal and he still produced.

I'd take Teix and Manny ahead of Vlad.

Pujols
Arod
Teix
Manny
Vlad
Papi

something like that.

Don't forget that Vlad was injured for almost a month last year. If he stays healthy the whole year, I would predict something along the lines of 107 R, 37 HR, 123 RBI, 13 SB, .328.

With that said, I'd probably take Teixeira over him.
