Will Victor Martinez be the Indians Catcher this year? he is a 2time Minor League MVP and batting champ and is on their current 40man roster anyone know anything.

I saw some projections on another site (can't remember where) but the "expert" didn't project stats for Victor because he didn't think he'd see the bigs in 03.

And if memory serves me right wasn't Ramon Hernandez a minor league batting champ and MVP as well?

I think he will be up with the Indians sometime in 2003. The only thing that I don't know is when. I would say he will be up by the second half at the latest.
This is all assuming that he doesn't bomb in AAA, which I don't think he will.

Ramon may have well been but this guys name is Victor Martinez not Ramon Hernandez,

He is arguably the best C prospect offensively to come along since Mike Piazza.

I keep hearing good thing about V.Martinez, he might be a good sleeper pic in late rounds, he is coming from a young team, so he might get extra playing time.
