Util: T. Hafner
Util: M. Ellis

SP: J. Peavy
SP: J. Schmidt
RP: B. Lidge

What improvements can I make?

Your outfield definitely needs an upgrade. It is your weakest point, followed by relief. If you could make two moves, I would add an outfielder with some power, and add another closer. I think Rincon can be dropped to make a waiver claim...as could Cabrera or Wilson.

You could probably deal Peavy for a Harden and strong outfield bat. Just make sure that if you DO deal Peavy......you get another borderline ace along with a strong bat in return. You have a very good starting pitching staff......do not weaken your only strong point UNLESS it significantly helps your team in turn.

Your infield and utility spots will be very good. Ellis is extremely versatile and finished the last half of the season on a tear. Definitely keep him in your lineup....Hafner is going to blast a ton out again this year and probably pick up another 100 RBI's to boot.

Again, on the trade front I would look at moving Peavy in a 2 for 1 type deal that nets you a lower caliber ace (Sheets, Harden) and a bat (Beltran, Matsui). Make sure that its great value for you.

Oh, I forgot to mention, the minimum innings per week is 35.

Based on your outfield, I'm guessing you took some guys (Schmidt, Duke, Roberts) too early. I'm not sure what you can do though, since you're not stacked in anything. Your pitching is ok the way it is, and it's not like you're loaded on infield. There's really nothing you can do right now to upgrade your outfield.

Try trading Duke while is value is still high. I don't trust him.

I'd suggest dropping Jack Wilson for another SS-eligible player with upside... you probably won't use him much anyway with Peralta as your main SS. You should probably make your trade(s) to improve your outfield right after the first month of the season.
