apparently unfounded but this site usually doesnt post up random thoughts .. he has the Mets sending Xavier Nady, John Maine, and Jeff Keppinger to the Nationals for Alfonso Soriano, Bill Bray, and Jason Bergmann
Wow, that's interesting. I can see the Nats wanting to unload Soriano but not sure how that deal works out for them. I guess it would help Soriano's value a bit though and he'd boost the Mets quite a bit as well.
I like the deal. Soriano is a FA after the 2006 and Was has no chance of resigning the guy especially with them wanting him to play OF instead of 2B. The Mets are going to be winners this year and have the money to pay the man. No what are they going to do with Kaz?
The Mets don't want to put up with his "defense" and I don't think that Omar wants to add $10 million to the payroll for someone who will be a free agent next year.
Maybe they can do a sign and trade much like Mulder and Hudson did a few years ago. Also, Kaz Matsui's defense is nothing to get excited about. If they can't put up with his sure lack of production and his questionable defense, I think they'll put up with Soriano's great production and shakey defense.
I was actually thinking Soriano for Cliff Floyd. Both are at the end of their contracts and the $ would be more or less an even swap. In the end, this would basically be a Cameron for Soriano deal which seems pretty good to me. Money is not the Mets' issue.
Actually, other than links to other websites/newspapers, that's pretty much what this website does exclusively (and probably how they maintain traffic). Dig through their huge stack of possible trades and you won't find an actual scoop in the lot. I place my chips confidently on "no chance."
