What does everyone think of this guy? Does he have the makings of an All-Star and fantasy stud at 2B? Some predictions say that he'll eventually be a 20 HR guy and give you double digit steals, but does he have the plate discipline to become a true stud at his position?

He has a change to be a well above avg 2B..not in the Utley/Soriano class IMO..although he still has a lot of developing to do..lots of upside!

I agree with almost all of it.

All star and stud fantasy 2b I think he'll never be, but double digit steals is a lock, and he should hit for a 300 average because he has solid power to all fields which will give him a leg up on his competition. He'll be fantasy valuable, though 'd avoid him this year while he avoids the ropes. He struggled through half of 2005 which shows his transition to the MLB wont be easy.

I dont expect more than a .260 with maybe 14 steals and he may get a bit more than dozen homers. More than likely this year he'll be at the bottom of the order so that could have a negative effect on him as well.

Barfield is intriguing...as he's still developing his power...and as was mentioned before...it's to all fields...

he certainly has 20-20 potential.

The question I really have is...

is he going to have a legitimate shot at starting at least 120 games...with the Pads picking up Bobby Hill (a former stud in waiting), and Bellhorn battling him for the job...

Barfield certainly has more potential...but Hill has a buttload of speed...and Bellhorn the experience...so it's POSSIBLE that Barfield is going to share to much time...

if you are in need, I'd take a flier...

I'd say he has 20 HR potential, but I'd say I don't see him doing it fairly soon. He hasn't shown that power yet on his own (and he played in an extreme hitters league last year) and he plays in a ball park that fly balls die in. I can see him developing into a nice 2B option that helps you out and doesn't hurt, but never a stud.

BTW Bobby Hill was never a stud prospect, he was simply a good prospect that was given a chance and has stumpled everywhere since.
