Ok this was my first fantasy league and i did a pretty poor job in the draft. But through it and my flurry of 4 trades and many FA add/drops, ive finally settled my team where Im ok with it for opening day unless someone gets hurt or something. and in the process learned a LOT about fantasy baseball even if its not reflected in my final team.

Im a ranger fan and i have traded for a few rangers, but i dont see the problem there since ranger hitters are in a very favorable position. Obviously I have no ranger pitchers.

I posted this team a few days ago but have since turned over a lot of the roster.

12 team mixed head 2 head, normal stats + OBP.

C -Jason Varitek
1B- Mark Teixeira
2B- Tadahito Iguchi
SS- Michael Young
3b- Hank Blalock
OF- Carlos Beltran
OF- Brad Wilkerson
OF- Kevin Mench
UTL- Paul Konerko
UTL- Ryan Freel
BN- Raul Ibanez
BN- Jay Gibbons

SP- Roy Oswalt
SP- Cliff Lee
RP- Houston Street (closer)
RP- Jose Valverde (closer)
P -Doug Davis
P -Joe Blanton
P -Scott Shields
BN- David Weathers (closer)
BN- Jeff Suppan

edited to reflect gibbons

I think it turned out ok, but im a fantasy novice so what do i know. I got ripped on here for a terrible trade I did, but ill leave that out of this for now =)

Please point out anything you think I need to address.
i would assume my OF is weak and i need a better third SP then davis.
I have one bench spot i cant fill until a trade is finalized, so there will be one more FA type pitcher on there (towers, chacin, byrd, something like that).

It isnt that bad for your first time. its auctully really good for your first time. Your biggest weakness is SP, then OF. See what you can get for Tadito Iguchi. Post your trades here, maybe we can help you. Is there any team stacked at SP? maybe he wants one of your batters...

Mike Piazza and Jeff Suppan serve no particular purpose on this team. Try and drop them for something better on the WW. Any other sleeper SPs on the wire, or solid 20-25 HR OFs? (Jay Gibbons, as an example.)
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike

thanks for the comments.

I just dropped piazza for gibbons.

i got suppan just because I figured I needed more SP.

The main SP left in FA are Towers, Byrd, Chen, Marquis, Penny, Chacin and a few other interesting guys.

Should I replace suppan with one of them?

I was going to pick up penny when my last bench spot opens up, and after all my rosters are final. Though if you think i should replace suppan I might drop him for penny now and add one of the others later.

its ok, im a ranger fan too....but im not sure id want that many guys on the same team. but you cant go wrong with young and tex.
blalock, you might be able to find a better option at third.

but overall a pretty good all around team. ... p?t=172931

Blalock has been good to great through the all star break 3 years in a row. Im worried about after that, but I figure he should at least be decent till then. Hopefully for my team and the rangers he can keep it up, but if not at least i will get that much out of him.

alright i will let this fall now if noone has any more comments, thanks all.
