My old lineup updated with a trade

Postby eman948 » Wed Mar 01, 2006 3:11 pm

Here was the team I drafted, but I just pulled off this trade that I think improves me...

5X5 league, 12 teams

C - B. McCann
1B - M. Teixeira
2B - C. Figgins (M. Giles)
SS - C. Barmes
3B - A. Beltre (D. Wright)
OF - B. Wilkerson
OF - M. Ordonez
OF - C. Patterson (Figgins)
Util - R. Howard
Bench - R. Sanders
Bench - G Jenkins (Patterson)

SP - M. Prior
SP - R. Harden
RP - H. Street
RP - E. Gagne
P - T. Gordon (empty)
P - D. Haren
P - C. Young
Bench - J. Seo
Bench - Ollie Perez
Bench - R. Clemens (D.Davis)

the trade:

I lose Beltre, Jenkins, Gordon and Cemens and get 2B M. Giles, 3B D. Wright and SP D. Davis...I will move Figgins into the outfield as he has 2B, 3B & OF elgibility...What do you think? Does this improve me or hurt me? I will also have an extra roster spot to pick up a reliever....What are your thoughts of stashing Shields on the bench for if K-rod goes down?

Leave your link and I'll help you out if I can...

Wright upgrade over beltre
Giles upgrade over Jenkins lose potential power though.
Good move on releas including Clemens in the deal - may not pitch this season. however would have tried for another reliever.

I like the upgrades to the team. Clemens may not even step to the mound so getting him out early is good and you may be able to find at least one more trade for a middle to lower tier reliever for patterson or if there is someone on the WW like you said.

all in all good job

You got good value for the players you gave up. Wright is a top-tier offensive player. The word on Clemens is that he will spend the first two months of the season with his son's minor-league team and makes his first start in June.

You need another starter, if Prior goes down you're in trouble. I will be surprised if Ollie Perez win more than 12 games in 06. Harden too is coming back from injury.

Leave your roster spot empty in case someone wins a closer job in Spring Training. If you want to stack up a setup man anyways, Linebrink(SD) will be a better choice I think. He's setting up for the 41 year-old Hoffmann.
