Feb. 23 For the first time in 20 months, Rocco Baldelli (OF) TB took part in live batting practice yesterday, according to the St. Petersburg Times. "He looked really good - like midseason, actually," manager Joe Maddon said. "I could not believe it. It looked like his timing was on, his bottom half was on, the ball was coming off his bat well. I watched him play catch [Tuesday] and the ball came out of his hand good. He looked really good." He's recovering from a torn ACL and Tommy John surgery, though it's not clear if he will be ready for opening day
I assume that he will begin the season on a minor league rehab assignment. I'd guess he'll be with the big club in May.
"When you come to a fork in the road take it."
