How does my team look? I know I need help in SP but can anyone else help me and give me some opinions. Thanks. WHIR.
To be honest, I think this is a really good team. Your pitching really is not that bad. I think you might need 1 more power bat in the outfield, rather than any help at the SP position. Then again, Holliday and Francoure could both produce out there, and you have solid power with Write and Berkman/Konerko. Your infield looks fabulous...just fabulous...lots of speed as well. Your stolen base category should be great with Crawfor in the outfield. I also suspect Francouer to get 10 or more steals this year....he actually is quite fast, and with the loss of Furcal....I wouldn't be surprised to see him use his legs more.
I would look at a no.3 or no. 4 starting pitcher along with a bat in the outfield. You could probably ditch Rincon...and hopefully look at those positions.
I definitely think I could use another SP, I'm looking into trying to acquire Harden or Sheets but I would probably have to give up a lot for either of them. Thanks a lot for the help.
Harden and Sheets would both be great additions, but I expect very good years out of Young and Bonderman. Escobar has terrific stuff. I don't know who to tell you to trade, if you could deal Ryan and still get a good closer thats a possibility as your pen will probably lose saves most weeks...even with his pitching. I would not deal Ryan unless you could upgrade your SP and still get a decent reliever like Isgrinhausen back. I'm not sure...you have a good team, so don't overpay for somone...
a power bat in the OF wouldn't hurt, but its not that necessary as holliday and francouer should mash the ball pretty well this year. your weakest area (and it is by no means Weak) is pitching. you do not have an ace starter per se, but your starters are all solid and you pretty much know you'll get great numbers across the board from them. I expect big years from Lackey and Cabrera, so they migth be pleasant surprises.
harden or sheets would be gold, but i agree with MrE, don't overpay, you're solid as is. if no ace comes along, just eye those waivers and be ready to drop one of your setup men if someone like McCarthy gets a full time job.
Bats are very nice. Yes, you could use a little more power, but I believe in Franceour and know a great many people who believe in Holliday as well. Very, very nice infield. Wilkerson could be great as well.
Pitching could use some help, but there are a lot of people, and maybe you're one of them, who really think Bonderman and Young will have great years.
All in all, great potential. Maybe look to move some of that potential for some proven talents.
I agree with the other guys here, but I would drop Rincon to pick up a bat, not an arm. If you are looking for cheap arms to trade for, look at Harang, Silva, or Seo. All had good numbers last year, and are on the way up. Don't pick up Harden or Sheets, both are coming off of injuries, and you will end up over paying by waaay to much.
