How do I fix this???

Postby mythrabbit » Tue Feb 28, 2006 3:29 pm

I just finished drafting this team. It's pretty good I think, but needs some balance. I need more speed and a decent reliever, but who should I give up for them? I'm stretched pretty thin already.

C - J Lopez
1b - T Helton
2b - C Utley
3b - D Wright
ss - M Young
of - K Griffey Jr
of - S Green
of - C Tracy
util - R Sexson
bn - D Dellucci
bn - P Polanco

SPs - R Harden, B Sheets, B Myers, J Beckett, Z Duke, M Clement, C Capuano, E Loaiza
RPs - J Borowski, D Weathers

Leave a link and I'll rate your team.

You have plenty of SP to deal. Your offense is stacked with power. Tracy qualifies at 1B in most leagues as does Utley, so that's something to keep in mind. I really don't like your closers. I'd definitely try and upgrade there. SP and power look like your biggest assets.

I think you should try and deal Sexson and a pitcher (Beckett or Capuano should have elevated value right now) for an outfield with speed....like Sizemore and a that will come cheap but be consistent...like an Isgrinhausen. Then I would try and add another reliever with a 1 to 1 trade with somone loaded with RP closers...maybe a Valverde or Foulke for Loaiza...Lastly, you could potentially add another outfield bat that is high risk/high reward. To do that, you could ditch one of Clement, Polanco (scan to see if anyone could use him in looking for a closer) or Dellucci (although he could be useful).......potential targets could be Hermedia or Baldelli...both guys that could go 20/20 which would significantly help your team. Be careful relying on Griffey and Green in the outfield, both will be consistent if healthy, but Green has been on the decline steadily for 2-3 years now...granted the lineup he is in has just gotten a lot better.

Harden, Sheets, Myers, Duke and one of Becket or Capuano would be a fine staff to go with. Deal or move the other three to shore up your outfield, speed, and relief.

If you can't get fair value right now, be patient until spring starts. You could always just punt saves.
