and posted that it was a mistake, which I know it was. Here's my
problem. I don't want to benefit from his mistake, but I don't want
to get screwed either. I am in first place in a 12 team 5x5 roto,
but 5th place is only 7 points behind me. I have 5th priority on
the waiver wire. I think there is a chance the 4 owners ahead of
me will pass, but I KNOW the 5th place owner who has 11th priority
will grab Nomar in a heartbeat. I think I have no choice but to
grab Nomar and trade him back to the original owner for a player
of lesser value. Am I right ?

That's generally the consensus in these discussions, yes.

why would you want to play in a league where all the owners can not be trusted to do the right thing when someone makes a simple mistake?
your commisioner should ban everyone, but the guy who dropped him, from picking up Nomar.

That happened to someone in my Fantasy Football league last year. No one touched the dropped players (who were pretty good) and the kid got his players back. I would have the commissioner place a ban on anyone touching nomar until the kid gets his player back. If you end up taking him, you look like the punk, especially if the kid you are worried about never intended to take him.

There are no kids in my league. I have already emailed Nomars
prior owner and told him I would trade him back for J Valentin,
and he is ok(damn well should be) particularly since one owner
below me in waiver priority has said he will get and keep Nomar.
I don't really fault the keep Nomar guys, they feel no obligation to
protect the other owners from their own stupidity. I think I can win
the league without Nomar(I have Renteria) as long as he goes back
to the original owner, if he goes to one of 3 teams, I am probably
screwed. As far as the commish banning us from picking Nomar up,
I do not think she should(or can)
