Luis Castillo = Green Light?????

Postby Big Tiex » Mon Feb 27, 2006 9:55 pm

Feb 27 The Associated Press reports Minnesota Twins 2B Luis Castillo wants to become a stolen base threat again after his steals have dipped quite a bit from 2002's 48 stolen bases. He will have the green light to steal. "I feel good," he said, stressing that he wants to get back to being a threat to steal. "That's why I prepared over the winter and I'm in shape."

this is from yahoo. If this is true and he returns to his previous # where would u rank him with 2b. Would u consider drafting him now after this???

I'd treat him as a backup option at this point. Playing on turf ain't gonna help his gimpy knees.
Bold Predictions:

Grady Sizemore will have more value than Jason Bay regardless of draft position

Aramis Ramirez in 155 G will hit over .300 40 HR 110 RBIs

Brian McCann will have more value than Jorge Posada regardless of draft position

Yeah, I can't see playing on turf helping him stay healthy. Plus his SB% hasn't been very goo the last few years.

I feel pretty good, too - I'm sure I could steal 40+ for the Twins this year. Hand me another beer.

LOL. I hear Eric Milton thinks he will improve too. Well as they say, there is only one direction for him to go. If Castillo got any worse, he would be in AAA.

Yanks,

He did have a 390 OBP last year. That's nothing to sneeze at.

And a whopping 20 extra basse hits. Castillo is overrated in both real baseball and fantasy.

Anyone who drafts him expecting 40 SBs will be severely disappointed. I would be somewhat surprised if he steals more than 15. 40 by 2009 may be a reasonable expectation. The Twins can engage in whatever sort of pre-season media hype they would like, but the fact is that Castillo's bad knees will be killed by the hard surface and his SB acumen has been declining percipitously.

Stumpak, you speak the truth. Yanks, you're the Cafe's own Stephen A. Smith or Sean Salisbury. Where does this anger come from? Castillo is a very good defender who knows how to get on base. He's not an all-star by any means, but he is a useful player to have on a major league roster.
