That's a tempting starting staff to have. I think you give up slightly too much for Pujols - essentially Giles for him if you assume that the other 4 cancel each other out. I'd offer Bonds instead of Giambi and try to make it a 2 for 3 trade. He might bite on the Bonds name and let's face it: Bonds has already hit his peak: it's downhill from here which isn't to say he isn't a top pick, but he's going to be overrated. Giambi's best year is still yet to come.
i'd do this deal. You are getting talented youth who will serve you over the next several years. Giambi + Maddux = Zito + Pujols in my opinion (give or take in some areas). So it comes down to whether or not i'd trade Oswalt for Giles. Yes I would. Any day of the week.

I don't think he'd do Bonds. He really wants Giambi. He sends offers to me all the time for him. I just made a counter offer with Bonds just to see, but I'm expecting a firm NO.
personally i like the trade too and trev makes some good points. One huge upside to this trade is the youth of the players your getting. If you can keep players forever than this is awesome for you. you'd still have zito and oswalt as starters even after shilling cools off and you could deal him down the road...next year.
I like the trade myself...you have a great upside in future keepers with the youth. Oswalt and Pujols are great investments. I think Maddox is onthe decline and Giles is getting up there in years as well.
The deal is fair both ways, but i like your end for getting younger.
Why is Giambis best year still to come? One, hes 32, and 2nd, his ops last year was over 100 points off his 00 and 01 years.

I think he's in his hitting prime and in a big time city. He'll continue to produce those numbers and then some. Bonds has been there and will be declining.
